Ocular injures are unfortunately a common occurrence in animals. Appropriate detection, diagnosis and treatment decision are needed in case of corneal trauma. Treatment will vary depending on the nature of the wound. In some situations soft contact lenses may promote healing, whereas corneal lacerations may need surgical repair. Surgical treatment involves suturing third eyelid or a conjunctiva flap over the surface of the cornea. Perforated corneal lesion will need corneoconjunctiva transposition graft to repair corneal defects. Postoperative uveitis and pain should be treated by topical and systemic agents.
