Na podstawie analizy za lata 2004 - 2010 r. można powiedzieć, że UE jako całość (i -wiele państw członkowskichjjest importe­rem netto żywności, chociaż optymistyczne jest, że w analizowanym okresie stopa -wzrostu unijnego eksportu żywności na ryn­ki pozaunijne (extra trade) -wzrosła w -większym stopniu niż stopa -wzrostu wywozu (dispatches) żywności w ramach handlu we- wnątrzunijnego (intra trade). Wszystkie nowe państwa członkowskie (poza Cyprem) zwiększyły w analizowanym okresie wywóz żywności na rynki unijne. „Stare"państwa członkowskie (EU-15) zwiększyły ten wywóz w mniejszym stopniu. Dodatnie saldo handlowe (trade balances) w handlu żywnością -wystąpiło w 6 „starych" państwach unijnych oraz w 4 nowo przyjętych pań­stwach, w tym w Polsce. Polska konsekwentnie zwiększała eksport żywnościowy, zarówno na rynki innych państw unijnych (sto­pa -wzrostu 95,5%), jak i na rynki krajów trzecich (stopa -wzrostu 64,6%), a także zwiększała się dodatnia -wartość salda handlo­wego. Można zatem powiedzieć, że Polska dobrze -wykorzystuje szanse rozwoju sektora i handlu rolno-żywnościowego po ak­cesji do UE.

According to the results of the analysis of the years 2004­2010, the European Union (and also many members coun­tries) is the net food importer. However, there is also, optimi­stic information, that during the above mentioned period, the rate of the European extra trade food exports is higher than the rate of intra trade food dispatches. All,,new", the Euro­pean Union member countries (except Cyprus) have incre­ased, during this period, intra trade food dispatches. The- ,,old" EU member countries (EU-15) have also increased these dispatches but at lower rate. The six,,old " and the fo- ur,,new" (including Poland) European Union member coun­tries have the positive food trade balance. Poland has consi­stently increased food exports on both intra trade (at the rate of growth of 95,5%) and extra trade (at the rate of growth of 64,6%) as well as has increased the positive food trade ba­lance. One may say, that Poland has taken advantage of the changes of the development of the agro-food sector and tra­de after accession to the European Union.
