During observations conducted in August 2011 on Uznam and Wolin islands (northwestern Poland), the autochthonic occurrence of Lestes barbarus and Erythromma viridulum was found. L. barbarus was recorded in a sand-excavation in Świnoujście while E. viridulum in a park pond in Świnoujście and a ditch in the bird sanctuary „Karsiborska Kępa”. These are the first observations of both species in the western part of Polish Baltic coastline. New data confirms the views about the northern boundaries of the area of their occurrence and the role of anthropogenic waters in geographic expansion of thermophilous dragonflies.
