Monitoring of agrophages’ resistance to plant protection products is considered as an important element of Integrated Pest Management programmes. The occurrence of resistance to pesticides causes considerable economic losses in agricultural crop production. A dynamic development of chemistry as well as continuous production of new, synthetic pesticides contributed to the rising resistance phenomenon of insect pest to used plant protection products. In Poland the problem of resistance to pesticides is mainly considered with harmful insects. Not many years ago, a considerable problem to be saved was the Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata Say) resistance to many insecticide active substances. At present, the phenomenon of resistance to pesticides is related to oilseed rape pests such as: pollen beetle (Meligethes aeneus F.), cabbage seed weevil (Ceutorhynchus assimilis Payk.) and aphids. The paper presents some factors and mechanisms of pest resistance to plant protection products and the current state of research in Poland.
