The growing biofuels’ production in Poland is expected to increase the amounts of rapeseed cake and distillers' grains. By-products from a feedstock that meets microbiological and toxicological standards can be a nutritious feed for farm animals. This study was conducted with New Zealand White rabbits whose complete diets were supplemented with 5 or 10% of one of two feed materials: rapeseed cake or maize DDGS with solubles (DDGS). It was found that the dietary inclusion of 5 or 10% rapeseed cake had no negative effect on weight gains of young rabbits and meat quality from rabbits. A decrease in the n-6 to n-3 PUFA ratio, beneficial from the standpoint of human nutrition, and an increase in linolenic acid were obtained. The addition of 10% maize DDGS to the feeds had an adverse effect on weight gains of young rabbits and meat quality from the rabbits. The purity of raw material from which DDGS is obtained should be taken into account when using this type of feeds.
