In 2005–2014 in Kielce (świętokrzyskie province) House Martins Delichon urbicum were counted in the area encompassing ca. 12% of the city population. The study was conducted on two plots including multi- family housing and service buildings. The numbers fluctuated considerably between years, but the overall trend was declining. The maximum numbers were found in 2007: 88 pairs on the study plot “Podkarczówka” and 94 pairs on the study plot “Śląska – Akademiki”. In the following years the numbers were declining, and finally both populations disappeared. The declining trend corresponds with the population trends reported from other areas of Poland and Europe. Many factors may be responsible for the species decline, including conditions in sub-Saharan wintering areas and during migration, increasing housing density (resulting in deterioration of food resources), intensive wasteland and green management (resulting in the problem with the access to mud, a building material). The direct human impact seems not to be an important factor
