A field study was conducted in the years 1994 and 1995 in Experimental Station Złotniki on sandy loam soil. The subsequent effects of water variant and the level of nitrogen fertilization on some soil properties and yield of winter grains were investigated. The increased nitrogen rates (in previous rotations) decreased soil pH and phosphorus concentration but increased total nitrogen content in 0 - 25 cm and 25 - 50 cm soil layers. Long-term sprinkling decreased total nitrogen and potassium content but increased magnesium concentration and pH in both soil layers.
