The in vitro studies were concerned with the effect of A staphylococcine, isolated from staphylococcal medium, on T. vaginalis. The staphylococcine used for the experiments was both freshly isolated and 8-month old one. The experiments demonstrated that A staphylococcine exerts an inhibiting effect on the growth of T. vaginalis in the medium when given in the doses ranging from 300 to 1000 units ; moreover, it has been found that the antibiotic activity was diminishing depending on the time of storage. The dosis of 10⁻¹ and more diluted ones failed to inhibit the growth of Protozoa, whereas the doses of 10⁻³ and 10⁻⁶ promoted the growth of T. vaginalis. T. vaginalis non treated with the antibiotic served as control.
