Precyzyjne określenie wpływu przechowywania na wartość nasion jest możliwe tylko w ściśle kontrolowanych warunkach symulujących te, które występują w silosach przemysłowych. Stanowisko służące temu celowi skonstruowano w IA PAN. Zapewnia ono monitorowanie zmian zachodzących w przechowywanych próbkach nasion, kontrolę temperatury, wilgotności oraz obciążenia badanych próbek nasion.

Seed storage in silos is closely connected with considerable decrease in their technological value, as well as with significant deterioration of their mechanical resistance, the latter resulting in large quantity of damaged seeds. The factor decisive of the quality of oil obtained from stored seeds are the conditions of their storage, namely temperature, loads they are subject to, moisture and harvest conditions (maturity, number of damages). To determine the effect of these factors on the technological value of seeds a prototype of pressure chamber was worked out simulating the conditions in silos and monitoring them at the same time. On the base of the results obtained we found that: 1. Harvest conditions and seed maturity really affected the seed quality during long-term storage. Seeds of technical maturity and natural humidity 11% were quickly infected by microflora, which caused complete agglomeration of samples. Similar extreme conditions (storage temperature 30°C, load 300 kPa) applied to fully matured seeds, which had low humidity during harvest but then got subject to secondary damping, exerted much less effect on the stored seeds quality. Storage of the same samples at 7 °C prolonged the storage time, however the technological value of seeds was then much deteriorated. 2. Seeds of respective varieties reacted obviously to differentiated storage conditions. The highest deterioration in the technological value of rape was that of the Bolko variety seeds - after 6 month storage in seeds with 6% humidity the acid value increased from 0.7 to 6.9. It concerned particularly the highest temperatures of 30HC and load of 300 kPa. The same conditions exerted considerably less influence on technological value deterioration in the Leo variety seeds.
