At the parasitologic department of the Korczak's Children Hospital 51 cases of cestods were observed in children (aged 16 months - 15 years) over the period of 3 years, this constitutung 4.0% of the total number of patients with parasitic diseases of the alimentary tract. The identified parasites were Taenia saginata in 43 cases, Hymenolepis nana in 2 cases, whereas in 6 cases eggs were not an adequate basis on which to recognise the species. In children taeniasis took oligosymptomatic course, being asymptomatic in 44.6%. The children were treated (Yomesan - Bayer and Cestodin – Nematodin, Hamburg) with 91.2% cure after the first therapeutic course.
