The authors studied the possibility to use Paracilline (amoxycillin) for prevention and control of bacterial diseases in poultry. The usefulness of Paracilline to eliminate Salmonella carriers was also investigated. It was found that Paracilline at a dose of 120—250 mg of an active substancel/L of drinking water applied for 5 consecutive days appeared to be highly effective both in the treatment of experimental Salmonella infections and in field cases of salmonellosis, colibacillosis and inflammations of umbilicus and egg yolk. Paracilline used in chickens for 5 days at a dose of 120 mg of amoxycillin/L of drinking water effectively eliminated carriers of S. typhimurium.
