Nobody wants incinerating plants

In the Federal Republic of Germany one can observe stronger and stronger protests against the incinerating plants which not so long ago were considered as the best method of getting rid of wastes. It has been proved, however, that incinerating plants are an imminent source of the emission of very dangerous substances — dioxins and furans. Moreover, they are becoming more and more expensive. In the article an example from Munich is discussed where the city authorities have decided to limit the incineration of rubbish. The alternative is encouraging the inhabitants to take an active part in segregation and collecting of wastes in households.

B ФРГ наблюдается всё сильнее протесты против сгорания мусора, которое до сих пор считалось наиболее эффективным методом освобождения от отбросов. Оказывается что при сгорании мусор является грозным источником эмиссии очень опасных веществ — диоаксана и фурана. Кроме того сгорание всё более дорого. В статье обсуждается пример Мюнхена, в котором городские власти решили ограничить сгорание мусора. Альтернативой является широкое включение жителей в сортирование и сборку отбросов в домашних хозяйствах.
