There is presented a method of determining heat losses for evaporation from moist surfaces in pig houses. The method consists in determining the heat losses basing on physiological values of the water balance of animals. Heat losses in effect of water evaporation from moist surfaces were determined with assessment method as the component of thermal balance and accepted for different rooms within the limits of 15-50% total heat losses. So great differences cannot be accepted, particularly considering energy saving. This inconvenience could have been escaped by introducing enthalpy of humid air into the equation of heat balance. Heat losses for evaporation from moist surfaces can be calculated from the following equation: Qₑᵥ= 139.75 × W⁰·⁶⁷ In the authors' opinion the dependence presented would allow a more precise determination of the components of thermal balance (particularly heat losses due to water evaporation from moist surfaces) in rooms for pig fattening.
