The aim of the investigations was to compare the effect of calcium, magnesium and calcium and magnesium fertilizers on the contents and distribution of heavy metals in tabacco plants. Liming and magnesium treatment, as well as increasing doses of those fertilizers influenced to a various degree the amount of yield of tabacco roots and tops. A change in the degree of soil acidification in result of the investigated fertilizers application influenced a decrease in heavy metal contents, and at the same time their distribution in tabacco plants. The contents of Cd, Pb, Ni, Zn and Cu in roots and stems of tabacco decreased along with an increasing dose of applied fertilizers. On the other hand, the concentration of these metals in tabacco levels thier concentration fluctuated silghtly, both on the control, on limed and magnesium treated objects. Applied calcium and magnesium fertilizer and calcium and magnesium ones additionally influenced a decrease in the contents of those elements and thier distribution in tabacco leaves.
