Preliminary field research was conducted in 2007-2009 in areas directly affected by lime industry and sodium industry in the region of Kujawy (Kuyavia) in northern Poland. A surprisingly high number of cuckoo wasps (Chrysididae) were caught there: 2683 individuals of 26 species. These taxa account for about 34% of the total number of chrysidid species in Poland. The studied chrysidid communities were dominated by Hedychrum gerstaeckeri, which make up more than a half of the total catch. Results of this study imply that industry does not always have a negative effect on the local fauna or flora.
