Artykuł przedstawia opracowanie bazy wiedzy do klasyfikacji dyni ze względu na jej przeznaczenie rynkowe. Baza została oparta na technologii internetowej wykorzystującej PHP oraz MySQL. W języku PHP napisano oprogramowanie do generowania dynamicznych stron internetowych. System MySQL posłużył do posadowienia danych w relacyjnej bazie danych. Zaproponowano także pakiet WAMP do zarządzania i obsługi bazy wiedzy. Celem pracy było stworzenie bazy wiedzy, która w przeciwieństwie do typowej bazy wiedzy wchodzącej w skład systemu ekspertowego jest autonomiczną aplikacją. Zapewnienia ona równoczesny dostęp nieograniczonej grupie użytkowników, bowiem oparta jest na serwerze wielodostępowym i wielowątkowym. Zadaniem stworzonej aplikacji jest wspomaganie szybkiego podejmowania decyzji w przedsiębiorstwach przetwórstwa owoców i warzyw.

This paper focuses on creating a database of information regarding pumpkins. It contains information of all species and varieties, their wide application in food, feed, medical and cosmetic industries as well as gives guidelines of its use as an ornamental plant. This database is created as a relational database, which means that information is divided to particular relationships and each of them contains different content. These relationships are interrelated and depending on the choice of search, appropriate information can be found. “Pumpkin database” was created using PHP and MySQL. PHP is a popular programming language designed mainly to generate dynamic web pages for searching information and MySQL is a relational database management system (RDBMS – Relational Database Management System). They are both multi-platform tools, they can be run on operating systems such as Windows and Linux, they are free software’s and cooperate with each other. Aforementioned programs gave the possibility of creating a database available to any user using a computer connected to the Internet. Some users are granted with advanced user rights and are able to insert new information regarding pumpkins or modify already existing content without the obligation of MySQL knowledge. For the need of this paper the created database was named “pumpkinbase” (pol. bazadynia). The created database is a standalone application in contrast to the typical knowledge base forming part of an expert system. It is based on web technology thanks to PHP. Dynamic generation of web pages is based on scripts using three languages: PHP, HTML and SQL. Web page was written in HTML, and PHP code generates this page. To communicate with the database SQL language was used but the queries are generated by PHP. PHP language is a connecting element for HTML and SQL, which themselves are not compatible with each other. The database related on MySQL and HTML gives the ability for quick verification and information update, e.g. about the pumpkin species. For the convenient use of “pumpkinbase” WAMP application was proposed, which consists of aforementioned software’s and programming languages. Thereby users of the database do not need programming skills to update the content of information regarding pumpkins. This database can help to increase the dissemination of knowledge about pumpkins, which may result in increased interest in this particular vegetable by farmers and producers of healthy food.
