Trois nouvelles espèces ďOstéostracés sont décrites du Dévonien inférieur (Gédinnien) de Podolie (RSS ďUkraine) Benneviaspis whitei sp. n. est proche des espèces les plus évoluées de ce genre. Benneviaspis polonica sp. n., dépourvu de processus cornuaux, serait également une forme très dérivée au sein du genre Benneviaspis. Tegaspis waengsjoei sp. n. paraît plus primitif que les deux espèces de ce genre connues au Spitsberg. La comparaison entre ces espèces de Podolie et celles du Dévonien inférieur du Spitsberg confirme les corrélations établies entre les Grès de Babin (“Old Red”) de Podolie et le sommet de la Formation de Ben Nevis au Spitsberg.

Three new species of Osteostraci are described from the Lower Devonian (Gedinnian) of Podolia (Ukrainian SSR). Benneviaspis whitei sp. n. is closely related to the most derived species of this genus. Benneviaspis polonica sp. n. lacks cornual processes and may also be a much derived species within the genus Benneviaspis. Tegaspis waengsjoei sp. n. seems to be more primitive that the two other species of this genus known from Spitsbergen. Comparisons between these species and those from the Lower Devonian of Spitsbergen confirms stratigraphical correlations between the Babin Sandstone (“Old Red”) of Podolia and the upper part of the Ben Nevis Formation of Spitsbergen.

Opisany w niniejszej pracy materiał Osteostraci stanowi część kolekcji oddziału paleontologicznego Szwedzkiego Muzeum Historii Naturalnej w Sztokholmie. Został on zebrany w latach trzydziestych, podczas prac polsko-szwedzkich grup paleontologicznych na Podolu, w których brał udział między innymi polski paleontolog, Władysław Zych. Badacz ten rozpoczął studia nad zgromadzonymi Osteostraci, które to studia przerwał wybuch II Wojny Światowej. Jedynym śladem badań były nazwy nowych gatunków, zapisane przez Zycha na etykietkach badanych okazów. Nazwy te zostały zachowane przez autorów niniejszej pracy, sama zaś praca poświęcona jest pamięci Władysława Zycha, który zmarł w 1981 r. w Wielkiej Brytanii. Opisano trzy nowe gatunki Osteostraci z piaskowców z Babina (żedyn) na Podolu: Benneviaspis whitei sp. n., B. polonica sp. n. i Tegaspis waengsjoei sp. n. Porównanie opisanych tu gatunków z dolnodewońskimi Osteostraci ze Spitsbergenu potwierdza możliwość korelacji podolskich piaskowców z Babina (“Old Red”) z górną częścią formacji Ben Nevis.
