The aim of the work – to establish motor skills peculiarities in young football players (aged 13 to 14 years). Methods of the research: Tests for speed and velocity and Tensodynamometry (Radžiukynas 1997). Average height of football players is 168 cm, their body mass – 55.84 kilos, BMI – 19.58. The vertical body movement speed in two foot take-off of the players is 2.49 m/sec, running results: in 10 m run – 1.88 sec (5.31 m/sec), in 20 m run – 3.31 sec (6.04 m/sec), in 30 m run – 4.68 sec (6.41 m/sec), jumping in hexagon area result – 17.16 sec, angular movement result – 2.35 m/sec. Individual movement skills are expressed by kinematic and kinetic indices of interaction with support, such as: squat time (0.348 sec), take-off duration (0.249 sec), squat speed (1.02 m/sec), squat depth (19.5 cm), reactivity of legs’ muscles (22.1 Hz), jump height (31.4 cm), absolute power of take-off (1555 N), relative capacity (28.5 W). Football players do not experience fatigue performing intense two foot vertical jumps, in average 45 jumps in 30 sec. Correlation analysis of all movement directions kinematic and kinetic indices relation significance highlighted the main indices which most objectively allow evaluation, prognosis, and correction of various directions movement level and abilities of young football players. Alteration of these indices’ significance interrelation shows peculiarities of athletes’ body functional systems’ adaptation to training loads, also serves as an effective methodical direction in improving preparation of young football players.
Background: The purpose of the following research was to find out the influence of imaginary training based on intention implementation on throw effectiveness of young basketball players, both male and female in stressogenic situations. Individual differences (action vs state orientation) between players were also measured in this research. Material/Methods: 76 players (32 females and 44 males) in the cadet category (15-16 years old) from basketball clubs of Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot took part in this research. In the first stage all players did a throw efficiency test ERPE 05 under two conditions, and their heart rate was measured. Then players were randomly assigned to one of two groups. The first one did imaginary training based on the influence of intention implementation for 10 days, while the other did not. After 10 days ERPE 05 test under two conditions was run again. Results: Test results showed that intention implementation does not influence effectiveness improvement in stressogenic conditions as far as state-oriented players are concerned, but it does lower the physiological cost of physical effort in form of a decreased heart rate. Conclusions: This research proves that visualization training based on implementation instructions does influence young players’ physiology and significantly lowers their heart rate under stressogenic conditions. However useful, visualization techniques used in this research still need other tests and should be applied for a longer period of time to acutely show how they affect young players’ mental preparation.
Introduction. Results of laboratory tests could be treated as a valuable source of information about players’ physical fitness. Aim of Study. The purpose of this study was to identify laboratory physical fitness tests that could be useful for predicting competences of 17-year-old soccer players. Material and Methods. Selected components of players’ physical fitness were assessed and the effectiveness of game performance was evaluated in a group of eighteen young soccer players. The following parameters were measured: anthropometric measurements, anaerobic and aerobic capacity, locomotion speed, explosive strength of the lower limbs, reaction time, and balance. Results. The results achieved in laboratory and exercise tests were converted into ranks. An assessment of players’ effectiveness in one-on-one games was made using special oneon-one test methodology, and a list of ranked game performances was prepared. On the basis of observations made by three independent experts, the participants were classified according to their “usefulness” for the game using the Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI). The ranking assessment of the effectiveness of one-on-one games and of a classified game was correlated with the results of laboratory tests. It was found that players with the highest scores in locomotion speed tests and in the explosive leg power test were also highly assessed by the experts with regard to the efficiency of their performance in one-on-one games as well as, to a slightly lesser degree, in the classified game. There was no significant relationship between the expert assessment of “usefulness” for the game and other tests. Conclusions. On the basis of strength-speed test results we may satisfactorily predict young soccer players’ efficiency of game performance.
The purpose of this study was to present a time motion differences between Romanian and Polish young soccer players during 6 vs 6 small sided games. Young male football players from Schools of Sports Masters in Oradea (Romania) and Łódź (Poland) participated in the study. During the training session the players participated in four small-sided games 6 vs. 6 with goalkeepers (4 × 4 min, 3 min of active recovery). Heart rate responses and distance covered during small-sided games were compared. There were significant differences in the distance covered by both nationality players and age groups in reference to each intensity zone. Polish players coverd significantly longer distance compared with romanian soccer players. The results of motion abilities of young players from two countries with different training systems show that training programs can have a significant effect on adoptive abilities of the players.
The aim of this study was to examine relationships between results of soccer-specific skill tests and game-related soccer skills in young players aged 12 and 15 years. The participants were 60 male soccer players aged 11.87-14.76 years divided into two groups: lower secondary school candidates (12y) aged 11.87 ± 0.23 years (n = 30), and upper secondary school candidates (15y) aged 14.76 ± 0.42 years (n = 30). Soccer-specific skills were assessed using two outdoor tests in competitive match conditions: Dribble Test and Turning Test. The assessment of the game-related skills was carried out by five expert judges during a 5 vs 5 small-sided game. The evaluation criteria had been set by a panel of experts. The reliability of game-related skills assessments procedures was calculated using intra class correlation (ICC), standard error of the mean (SEM), coefficient of variation (CV). Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients were used to determine the relationships between results of assessments of game-related skill and soccer-specific skill tests. Relationships between soccer-specific skills and game-related skills in 15-year-old players (–0.325 to –0.452) are less pronounced than in 12-year-old players (–0.496 to –0.667). It seems to be unjustified to use soccer-specific skill tests for prediction of young soccer players’ potential. The results of these tests can depend on numerous biological differences in the development of adolescent players. In conclusion, evaluation of players by judges should be part in talent identification models in youth soccer.
Introduction. The authors attempt to examine whether functional differences between the legs in soccer players are similar in different motor tests, and whether possible weaker laterality in soccer players could be the effect of the higher fitness level of their left legs, or the lower fitness level of their right legs. Aim of Study. The aim of the study was to determine the scope of differences between the results of motor coordination tests performed with the right leg and the left leg by boys playing soccer and non-training controls. Materials and Methods. 52 soccer training boys and 25 non-training controls volunteered to participate in the experiment. Motor coordination tests of the left and the right legs were performed by participants in order to assess static balance, rate of movements, dynamic endurance, and kinesthetic differentiation. Results. The greatest differences between the training and non-training boys were found in dynamic endurance (left leg, p < 0.001; right leg, p < 0.01). Coaches’ high assessments of players were based on good results of the balance test of the left leg. The differences between the left and the right legs were smaller in the soccer players than in non-training boys, particularly when the results of the left legs were better. Conclusions. In both groups under study the functional asymmetry between the right and the left legs in the static balance and dynamic endurance tests exceeded 20%, which may contribute to possible sport injuries. The soccer players’ static balance test results indicate the presence of training-induced bilateral transfer of balance ability of the legs.
The purpose of the present study was: 1) to determine young tennis players’ fitness and anthropometric characteristics; and 2) to determine to what extent these characteristics relate to the players’ national ranking. Forty young (age 15.1 ±0.4) trained male tennis players, who were ranked from 1 to 40 in their age group in the country’s youth tennis players list, were tested for speed, speed endurance, flexibility, strength, specific agility and quickness, aerobic capacity, height, and weight. Significant correlations were found between the players’ ranking and speed (r = 0.430 – 0.475), specific agility and quickness (r = 0.626), speed endurance (r = 0.562), strength (r = –0.416), aerobic capacity (r = –0.581), flexibility (r = 0.352), height (r = –0.443), and weight (r = –0.293). Stepwise regression analysis indicated that specific agility and quickness accounted for almost 40% of the players’ ranking, while its combination with the players’ height accounted for 56%. The results imply the overall importance of anaerobic capabilities and tennis-specific movements to the young tennis players’ ranking. The results also emphasize the importance of tennis-specific tests to the young tennis players’ performance evaluation.
The main purpose of this study was to determine the influence of different types of surfaces on the sprint test results. 33 male football players from two age categories – U15 and U18 – performed sprint tests (7 distances between 5 and 30 m) and a 150 m shuttle run test on three types of surfaces: natural grass [n], a synthetic surface [s] and a rubber surface [r]. The longer distance a player covers, the more likely it is that the importance of the type of running surface will be noticed. The rubber surface diminishes the negative effects of changeable factors on the reliability of the tests and therefore, in our opinion, is recommended for control tests and especially for longitudinal tests. Comparing the results of running speed tests performed on different surfaces and especially in different weather conditions is unjustified.
