The subject of analysis is the process of entering the labour market, considered in relation to the rural youth in selected post-communist countries (Poland, Romania, Russia, China and Vietnam). The empirical basis are different types of existing data (scientific monographs, papers, national and international reports, official statistics) collected in an international project funded by the National Science Centre, Poland. Transition from education to satisfactory employment which, at present times, takes almost the whole third decade of young people’s lives, is only an external indication of transformations in the labour markets all over the world. In the analysed group of the countries, Poland is the only case where both using new educational offers and positive valuation of living in the countryside occur to the extent unobserved in other countries; nevertheless, Polish young people also see their life opportunities in the cities where they compete for employment. Rural youth in all the analyzed countries usually represents the type of chaotic careers, situating it in segments of informal work, temporary or self-employment.
The morphological and histological changes which occur in the cold-induced apical meristem of broccoli (B. oleracea var. italica cv. ‘Fiesta’) during transition from the vegetative to the generative phase have been demonstrated in our previous investigations. Now, a light microscopic study on the micromorphological parameters of the tunica and corpus of the meristem was undertaken to ascertain their association with devernalisation. Changes in the apex of broccoli seedlings grown for 26 days at 24oC, succeeded by 35 days of cold treatment (16oC - vernalization) followed by 14 days of warm treatment (24oC - devernalization), were studied and described. Microscopic analysis according to the new method of slide preparation showed cytohistological zonation and the spatial distribution of cells in the central and peripheral zones of the broccoli shoot meristem more precisely than possible hitherto. Comparison between subsequent stages of meristem reorganization after devernalization revealed variation in the structure of the apex during its transition to the evocation phase of flowering. The results of measurements show that the tunica width changes irregularly, increasing from its minimum value (112.39±5.78 μm) through the medium one to the maximum values (260.32±2.50), to decrease again, while its height increased and decreased sinusoidally from its minimum value (21.52±4.30μm) to the maximum one (76.98±7.44μm) and then decreasing again to the minimum value (21.52±4.30). The stratification of the tunica as well as its width and height revealed relatively low variation within the analyzed time. These structural traits correlated with cold/warm treatments may be further utilized in the broccoli breeding programme against developmental disturbances.
The business experts could witness major changes in the targets of intemational Capital flow during the last two decades. The Central-Eastem European economic and social transition that was started in the early I990s has created good conditions for the intemational investments. The new target of foreign direct investments - besides the Asian regions - depended on the changes of political and economic system going on in the countries concerned. The different pace of changes and the privatization of state properties determined the share of individual countries from the capital import. The early eminent countries were replaced by new eminent ones, and the capital inflow replaced brown field investments - that dominated at the beginning - with green field investments. The paper examines the worldwide and regional tendencies of foreign direct investments of the I990’s and the 2000’s, the share of individual countries within the region as well as the changes in the sectoral distribution. Relations are searched for the changes of position of Hungary, as well as among the economic-social processes in the country.
Gastropod response to a marked carbon isotopic geochemical anomaly across the Early–Middle Frasnian transition (Palmatolepis transitans–Palmatolepis punctata conodont zones) has been analysed along the southern Laurussian shelf, mainly within the Dyminy Reef in the Holy Cross Mountains. Gastropods are represented by three reefal associations (Kowalatrochus sanctacrucensis, Euryzone kielcensis, and Grabinopsis guerichi associations), and an impoverished open−shelf Straparollus laevis assemblage. The most severe diversity crisis is connected to the disappearance of local low−energy muddy habitats, as a result of a transgressive pulse (Middlesex Event) and benthic habitat changes tied to strongly fluctuating carbon cycling; this has been observed at the highly diverse Kadzielnia−type assemblage. Fifteen taxa have been recognised in this distinctive Early Frasnian mud−mound association, including six (probably endemics), which are unknown from the Middle Frasnian. The disappearance of three relict Givetian species (Euryzone delphinuloides, Straparollus laevis, and Goniasma? zarecznyi) is also recorded. Other species probably migrated into the shallower water part of Dyminy Reef and persisted in the Middle and Late Frasnian. The Middlesex Event and the earlier major biogeochemical perturbation seem to have less serious effects for evolution of gastropods in the Polish−Moravian part of the Laurussia shelf than the catastrophic Frasnian–Famennian extinction. Two new taxa are described: Frydiella kaimi gen. et sp. nov. (Eotomariidae) and Heidelbergeria czarnieckii gen. et sp. nov. (Elasmonematidae).
Many sauropod ghost lineages cross the Middle Jurassic, indicating a time interval that requires increased sampling. A wide taxonomic spectrum of sauropodomorphs is known from the Middle Jurassic of China, but the braincase of a new sauropod, named here Nebulasaurus taito gen. et sp. nov., is distinct. Nebulasaurus is sister taxon to Spinophorosaurus from the Middle Jurassic of Africa and represents a clade of basal eusauropods previously unknown from Asia. The revised faunal list indicates dramatic transitions in sauropodomorph faunas from the Jurassic to Cretaceous of Asia; these are consistent with geographic isolation of Asia through the Late Jurassic. Non-sauropod sauropodomorphs, non-mamenchisaurid eusauropods (including basal macronarians), and mamenchisaurids successively replaced previous grades through the Jurassic, and titanosauriforms excluded all other sauropod lineages across the Jurassic–Cretaceous boundary.
