In his article, the author discusses the use of information and telecommunication technologies in servicing market contacts of companies from the tourist sector in some European Union countries. Based on the results of surveys within the framework of the European research programme e-Business W@tch, there is carried out evaluation of commonness of use of the information technologies in the sector of tourist services against the background of other branches of service and industrial activities. The surveys show that in tourism (as in other branches), information technologies are popular, first of all, in servicing trade functions related to on-line purchases and supplies. They are more seldom met in servicing contacts with customers, particularly when the matter is with advanced systems of computer-aided sales. Their popularity is clearly differentiated in companies of different sizes — to a disadvantage of small companies.
