The extent of last year’s flood exceeded natural disasters which had occurred until then. It resulted in 54 fatalities and material losses estimated at more than ten billion Polish Zlotys. The Supreme Surveillance Chamber reviewed the course of the flood and actions aimed at reducing its effects. The review has been concluded by a 200-page report. The document discusses mistakes and cases of negligence which aggravated the adverse effects of the flood: conclusions on future improvements are also presented. The most important ones include the recommendation on developing a multiannual plan for a national flood protection program and integrated country-wide emergency response system.
