Subject and purpose of work: The aim of the research was an attempt to define the interest in horseriding recreation within the territory of Sub-Carpathian voivodeship. Materials and methods: The analysis was conducted with the use of survey questionnaire which included 21 closed and semi-open questions of single and multiple choice. Research was conducted in 2014. Answers were obtained from 120 respondents which allowed to divide the obtained material depending on gender, age and place of residence. Results: Conducted research indicated that persons with higher education availed of horse-riding at least once a week, defining at the same time their skills as good and very good. The fact that this activity was realized mostly under the supervision of instruction, despite the declared level of training is beneficial. This allows to maintain high standards of safety and also work places. Conclusions: Despite borne significant costs related to practising horse-riding (at least 500 PLN/ month) vast majority of the respondents did not have their own horse, declaring at the same time a will to purchase one in the future.
The objective of this paper was to test in practical conditions possibilities of the application of GIS to design multi-variant educational pathways in the forest. An attempt was also made to develop a system of management of spatial information which makes it possible to design different alternatives of pathways in a specific forest complex. Nearly every fragment of the forest can be used to create educational paths. Usually, areas characterised by a considerable variability, situated in regions easily accessible for people are selected for such purposes. In the case of a strongly diverse area, the creation of multi-variant paths may be an ideal solution by providing different routes for persons of different ages and levels of education. There can also be theme alternatives presenting different problems or variants intended for selected ways of movement. GIS is very useful when designing many variants of educational pathways in one area. This system facilitates data collection at the phase of field inventory and allows designing many different alternative routes, as well as managing them in the course of their utilization.
Background: The health potential of a person can be improved thanks to recreational physical activity and rational diet. The sense of life satisfaction is also one of significant health resources. Objective: The aim of the study was to analyze the relations between the level of life satisfaction and the frequency of consuming selected products in the group of young women who engage in fitness for recreational purposes. Material and Methods: The study involved 200 young women (20-30 years old) who regularly do recreational physical activity in fitness clubs in Małopolska. An original questionnaire was used to measure the frequency of consumption of food products, with the following scale: several times a day, once a day, several times a week, once a week, several times a month, and more rarely / never. The Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) by Diener et al., adapted into Polish by Juczyński, was used to measure life satisfaction. The results were analyzed with the use of U Mann-Whitney test and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients in a statistical package PQStat ver. 1.6. Results: Statistical analysis showed that along with higher life satisfaction, women significantly less often consumed: white bread (p<0.05) and whole milk (p<0.05), and significantly more often: wholemeal bread (p<0.05), whole-grain rice and pasta (p<0.001), legumes (p<0.05), fermented milk products (p<0.05), fish (p<0.05), seafood (p<0.01), beef (p<0.01) and vegetable juices (p<0.001). The comparison of the mean frequency of consumption of certain foods depending on the level of life satisfaction (low vs. high according to the SWLS) showed that women who displayed high life satisfaction significantly more often consumed wholemeal bread (p<0.01), whole-grain rice and pasta (p<0.001), curd cheese with reduced fat content (p<0.05), seafood (p<0.05), beef (p<0.001) and vegetable juices (p<0.05), and significantly less often, sweets and confectionery (p<0.05) than did women displaying low life satisfaction. Conclusions: The study proved the predictive role of life satisfaction in the development of eating habits of young, physically active women, indicating more rational dietary choices of women with higher levels of this individual quality.
Our paper proposes the evaluation of 5 select water bodies in Kraków (Bagry, Zakrzówek, Przylasek Rusiecki, and Kolna, and in the District of Krakóws water bodies formerly known as Kryspinów, currently “Zalew na Piaskach”). Their recreational values were assessed based on expert evaluation of 8 characteristics with the use of Saaty’s method to attribute weight to each characteristic. SWOT analysis was also applied, focussing on the problem of uncontrolled tourism. Kryspinow, Przylasek Rusiecki, and Kolna received the highest and very similar grades in terms of tourist attractiveness (2.475, 2.447, and 2.444, respectively), Bagry was slightly less attractive (2.224), and Zakrzówek received the worst score (0.796) due to its difficult access and lack of facilities.
Nowadays, recreational activity is not only the general tendency to improve physical function, but is also associated with increased physical effort and risk. For example, there has been the development of more sophisticated and dangerous forms of skiing. Today, skiing can be divided into downhill skiing, practiced in ski resorts, and freeskiing. The freeskiing forms include ski-touring and freeride, considered as extreme. The extreme forms are characterized by high risk as the main motive for their practice. The most important predisposition to engage in those activities is the courage expressed in risk taking propensity. Risk taking propensity is a personality trait that affects human decisions in risky situations. Depending on its severity, more or less risky behavior can be observed. The aim of the study was to determine the level of propensity to risk behaviors of people involved in forms of activity associated with a higher risk in comparison with other participants, on the example of recreational skiing. The questionnaire constructed by Ryszard Studenski was used to measure the risk taking propensity and frequency of risky behavior. The research was carried out on 40 persons classified on the basis of the declaration of preferred form of skiing. People practicing extreme forms of winter activity (ski touring, ski-mountaineering) showed lower level of risk taking propensity than a group of downhill skiers. It was found that the preference of risky sports is not definitely related to the higher propensity to risk-taking behavior.
This paper draws from research carried out as part of the EU-funded project ‘EFORWOOD-IP: Tools for Sustainability Impact Assessment of the European Forestry-Wood Chain’. The paper reports on a literature review to develop a generic template of social and cultural values and indicators associated with forests in Europe, and research to develop ‘forest recreational use’ as an indicator to assess the social impacts of changes in forest management as part of European impact assessment procedures.
W literaturze przedmiotu przedstawiono różne kryteria oceny krajobrazu w aspekcie turystyki i rekreacji W pracy zaprezentowano charakterystykę wybranych metod waloryzacji krajobrazu w aspekcie rozwoju turystyki i rekreacji.
