From January till December 1996 three models of automatic drinking bowls for turkeys were designed, constructed and tested at the Department of Poultry Raising Mechanization, IBMER, Poznań. Two of the models were equipped with control valves responding to their weight changes, while the third one - with a floating valve. Water supply unifornity and maintaining of water level were tested. The stabilization of drinking bowls, their usability for the birds, reasons and extent of water impurities and correctness of applied technical solutions were also analysed. Best results were obtained for the drinking bowl of small diameter, with rounded bowl and a cone limiting water amount in the bowl at maintaining its required depth. Weight-controlled by lever system valve was used in the bowl.
