Studies were carried out on blowflies - Calliphoridae of Roztocze. From 1986 to 1992, 46 species were recorded, which account for 83.6% of their numbers recorded from Poland. Most of them are widely distributed saprophages and parasitoids and parasites and predators of invertebrates and vertebrates. 45 species of the family Calliphoridae are new to the region studied and Bellardia pubiconis, B. vespillo, Pollenia angustigena, P. hungarica and P. pediculata are new to the fauna of Poland. 19 species are synanthropes. The highest number of 36 species was recorded in the xerothermic grasslands. The Calliphorid fauna of Roztocze was compared to that of blowflies of other regions in Poland. An analysis of their species composition and dominance structure was carried out in eight selected habitats in the following regions: the Bieszczady Mts., the Pieniny Mts., the Świętokrzyski Region, the Nida Valley, the Mazovian Lowlands and Roztocze.
53 species of the two families were found in the Świętokrzyski Region; they included 42 species of the family Calliphoridae and 11 species of the family Rhinophoridae, which account for 81% and 73%, respectively, of their numbers recorded from Poland. Most of them are widely distributed saprophages and parasitoids and predators of invertebrates and vertebrates. 6 species within these families are new to the region studied and Pollenia bulgarica is new to the fauna of Poland. 26 species are synanthropes. The highest number of 41 species was recorded in the mixed coniferous forest. The Calliphorid and Rhinophorid fauna of the Świętokrzyski Region was compared to that of blowflies and woodlouse-flies of other regions in Poland. An analysis of their species composition and dominance structure was earned out in seven habitats selected in the Pieniny Mts., the Bieszczady Mts., the Świętokrzyski Region, the Nida Valley and the Mazovian Lowland.
Data about the impact of blowflies on earthworm are summarized. Larvae of Bellardia vulgaris (ROBINEAU-DESVOIDY), P. pediculata MACQUART and P. rudis (FABRICIUS) (Calliphoridae) were tested as tested parasitoids of Aporrectodea caliginosa (SAVIGNY) and Allolobophora chlorotica (SAVIGNY) (Lumbricidae). Both earthworm species seem not to be the main hosts for maggots of mentioned blowfly species. The impact of blowflies on earth-worms in cultivated field condition is assessed as non existing.
The investigations were carried out in three zones: rural (I), suburban (II) and urban (III). 22 species (68,7% of the Calliphorid fauna of Poland) were recorded from Mazovia (I). In Warsaw there were found 18 species (81.8% of the fauna of these Dipterans from Mazovia). The material studied was dominated by widely distributed species the larvae of which parasitize invertebrates. An analysis was carried out of the species composition and the domination structure of the communities of parasitic Calliphoridae in the selected habitats of these zones (I-III).
35 species of Calliphoridae were found in the Zbocza Płutowskie reserve, which is 53.8% of the total number of blowfly species recorded from Poland.
The first record of Angioneura cyrtoneurina (Zetterstedt, 1859) from Poland is given. One specimen was collected in Biebrza National Park.
64 species of three families were found in the Górzno-Lidzbark Landscape Park; they included 31 species of Calliphoridae, 2 species of Rhinophoridae and 31 species of Sarcophagidae, which constitutes for 50%, 24% and 25%, of the number of species recorded from Poland, respectively. Górzno-Lidzbark Landscape Park is the third locality of Miltogramma rutilans MEIG. and Sarcophaga teretirostris PAND. in Poland.
