Ex-manor parks of the Slowinskie coast

100%
This paper presents results of a field studies in ex-manor parks of Słowinskie Coast which were made during two vegetation seasons, from May2004 to September 2005. The studies covered six ex-manor parks located in the communes of Darłowo, Sianów, Ustka and Wicko. Two of them were entered into the register of monuments (Bukowo Morskie, Osieki Koszalinskie II) and four of them were in evidence (Gabino, Machowino, Machowinko, Szczenurze). The main purpose of research was to the current status of presevation of the chosen ex-manor parks of the Słowinskie Coast and especially taking into consideration the most precious specimen of dendroflora. Many old trees, trees alleys, trees lines, foreign dendroflora taxa and protected herbaceous plats were found on the parks’ areas. The most precious specimens are: protected trees of Taxus baccata L., from Machowinko and Szczenurze; Aesculus pavia L. and Castanea sativa Mill. from Szczenurze; Liriodendron tulipifera L. from Gabino and Machowino; Fagus sylvatica L. ‘Purpurea’, Tilia cordata Mill. from Bukowo Morskie. Herbaceous plants under full and partial preservation are: Galanthus nivalis L., Leucoium vernum L., Ononis spinosa L. and also creeper Hedera helix L.
The aim of the article is to present the Record Sheet of Animate Natural Monuments for trees, which would standardize collecting and presenting data on tree monuments. The study uses data from the Register of Natural Monuments of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship made available by the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection (RDOŚ) in Wrocław, as well as form the existing municipal record sheets of nature monuments and the Central Register of Forms of Nature Protection (CRFOP) facilitated by the General Directorate for Environmental Protection. Based on the qualitative assessment and the range of data contained in the RDOŚ and CRFOP registries and record sheets, an original proposal for a natural monument record sheet was elaborated for both individual trees and groups. The proposed consistent range of data on natural monuments will enable the use of collected data in statistical surveys, comparative analyses, and the research on species. In addition, the quality of data collection will contribute to a proper protection of trees and their surroundings.

Micropropagation of Stryphnolobium japonicum

80%
Observations of Japanese pagoda trees indicate that they undergo a full cycle of vegetative and generative development without self-renovation. The aim of this study was to obtain a successive media protocol propagation of Japanese pagoda tree by in vitro cultures. The effects of growth regulators were studied with reference to primary regeneration, shoot multiplication and rooting. As explants source were used the part of shoot of 90-year-oldtree. Explants were placed on MS (Murashige and Skoog 1962) basal medium with the addition of 6-benzylaminopurine – BAP (1.0–2.0 mg dm-3), thidiazuron – TDZ (0.1–0.3 mg dm-3) and indole-3-acetic acid – IAA (0.5–1.0 mg dm-3). BAP was the growth regulator which significantly increased shoot regeneration on initial explants. TDZ in turn, inhibited the formation of adventitious shoots and caused the explants which had been placed on the medium to die. The multiplication of the Japanese pagoda tree by in vitro cultures should be conducted on MS media with the addition of 0.5 mg dm-3 BAP, and they should be rooted on media with the addition of 0.3 mg dm-3 indole-3-butyric acid – IBA. It seems, that devising an efficient method of Japanese pagoda tree micropropagation is realistic.
