New unconventional techniques of cereal grain harvesting are described such as stripping the ears and combing out the grain, cutting the ears with short upper parts od stalks (high mowing) or separation of grain from ears at standing crop without cutting the stalks. Author discussed the results of investigation regarding work quality and fuel consumption versus combine throughput at using new techniques, especially the ear stripping, in comparison with traditional harvesting assembly in New Holland TX32 combine harvester. An attempt was made to evaluate the work quality and the possibility of increasing combine throughput, also the tendency of replacing combine harvester with a machine separating grain from ears at standing crop in the field was pointed out.
