In 1963 the Forest Department was re-established in Kraków Higher Agricultural School (currently the Agricultural Academy). Academie authorities submitted to the ministry for transferring a forest district located in the mountains, to be used for research and experiments by researchers, and for field studies and training for students. The Krynica forest district was selected as a challenging and difficult area, thus useful for research and teaching. The article deals with the role of this research and didactic unit, its tasks, and impact on climatic and natural values of the spa.
