The optimum time of weeding during four months following spring-planting of strawberries cultivar Senga Sengana was evaluated in conditions of Central Poland. Plantations were established every year of investigations, in the last week of March. The most important annual weeds infesteing experimental plots were: Capsella bursa-pastoris, Chenopodium album, Poa annua, Stellaria media and Amaranthus retroflexus. Yielding and growth of young plants were evaluated within four months after establishing the plantation. Weight of aboveground parts and roots of strawberry plants were similar on plots weeded once (4 or 8 weeks after planting) and on plots weeded three times (4, 8, and 12 weeks after planting). Newly planted strawberry plants yielded best on the plots where weeds were controlled once, 4 weeks after establishing the plantation.
