44 species of digger wasps (Hymenoptera: Sphecidae) are reported from Pieniny National Park (UTM: DV57) in S. Poland. 39 are new for the Pieniny Mts. The specimens were collected in Moericke traps during 1996-1999 on 5 localities in the Park. Pemphredon podagrica CHEVRIER, 1870 is recorded for the first time from Poland. One male was collected on the edge of a woodland with white fir (Carici-Fagetum abietetosum community).
The digger wasp Trypoxylon fronticorne GUSSAKOVSKIJ, 1936 (Hymenoptera: Sphecidae) is recorded for the first time from Poland. The specimens were collected in Kampinos National Park in Central Poland with the use of Moericke traps. Currently 8 species representing the genus Trypoxylon LATREILLE, 1802 are known from Poland. The key for the determination is provided.
The study was conducted In pine forest stands representing three age classes: young stands (12 - 15 years old), pole wood (about 50 years) and mature stands (older than 80 years). a total of 77 species of Sphecidae were registered. The community from the young stands is the richest in both the number of species and abundance. Species composition, species richness of individual phagous groups, abundance and the character of the structure of dominance were similar in communities from older stands, while the young stand Sphecidae community was considerably distinct from the former. Young stands were preferred by species of the genera Mellinus, Ammophila, Tachysphex and Crabro, while Passaloecus, Pemphredon, Spilomena and Trypoxylon prevailed in older stands.
Malaise's and Moericke's traps set in a mossy pine forest within the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve have revealed 18 Pempilidae species and 44 Sphecidae species. The distribution of Pompilidae and Sphecidae in the forest was not uniform and dependent on the heterogeneity of the pine stand and the forest layer. Insects of both families were found to concentrate in the cutting, and Sphecidae, in addition, in the crown.
The first record of Passaloecus pictus RIBAUT, 1952 from Poland is given. One female was collected in the Gorzowskie Murawy nature reserve (UTM: WU14).
The first record of Nitela fallax from Poland is presented. One specimen of the species was captured on 2 VII 1998 in Kampinoski National Park (central Poland). It is the third species of the genus recorded from Poland. Key to the European species of the genus Nitela is included.
The species composition of sphecid wasps (Hymenoptera: Sphecidae) in western part of Kampinoski National Park (surroundings of the Field Study Centre in Bromierzyk) during 1988-1992 was investigated.
