We have entered into the second generation of science and technology. Therefore, we increasingly value the undertaking of the research that is both ethical and beneficial to manking. This research should be characterized by wide programs, depth of investigation, dedication, imagination, and great responsibility. Therefore, complex research equipment used, among others, to register reality in all of its variety of occurring processes and phenomena becomes increasingly important. Accordingly, film techniques registering and recreating reality carry more and more weight. Today we can even create computer images, based on coded film images. The development of video techniques for research and documentation has been notable in the last years. In Poland these techniques are not yet adequately developed and are not commensurate to existing needs. Poland lacks modern equipment, and Polish research facilities do not seem to be interested in this field. The Research Film Team (Zespół Filmu Badawczego), founded in 1970 as part of the Agricultural Technology Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Komitet Techniki Rolniczej PAN), conducts research, organizes symposia, and publishes its own articles. Some of the achievements of the members of the Team warrant recognition for their scientific breakthroughs. In order to widen existing research it was useful to create within the Polish Academy of Sciences an interdepartamantal Research Film Center. The main focus is research work, but also its documentation, and creation of development and educational films. New image recording and processing techniques, using modern achievements of electronics and electromagnetics shoud be gradually introduced.

The Centre for Agricultural Mechanization Personnel Training (CODK) at the Institute of Agricultural Construction, Mechanization, and Electrification first started making science films in 1967, to fulfill its own needs for the technical training of the Department of Agriculture managerial staff. A relationship of film titles to the Institute’s research was established in the final phase. Film became one to the methods of scientific research implementation. Films do net merely report on the research alone. They are directed according to a script, and present the official position of die Institute with regards to a studied machine, technique, or technology. In 1970, research using film cameras was started. Initial observations encouraged the use of film techniques in the research processes. We produce educational and research films on color 16 mm film, with sound in either Polish or foreign language, for the Institute’s own needs, for agricultural schools and universities, for Regional Centers of Agricultural Progress, post graduate schools, and agricultural training centers. Eighty four titles have been produced to date. Between 1967 and 1990 approximately 13.000 copies were distributed to agricultural schools and universities, Regional Centers of Agricultural Progress (WOPR’s), and other recipients. Eighteen studies were conducted in research processes. Their results were used in production of basic, constructional, and testing subjects at the Institute’s Research Facilities, at the Harvesting Machinery Manufacturing Plant in Płock, and at the Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing Plant in Grudziądz. Research film materials were also used to produce educational films.

В исследовательских институтах подчиненных V Отделению ПАН, отсутствует, за исключением Ботанического сада, какая либо деятельность по использованию фильма в исследованиях и внедрении научных достижений. Самой высокой активностью в реализации темы „Фильм как исследовательский и внедрительный метод в сельскохозяйственных науках" характеризуются Сельскохозяйственная академия в Кракове и Сельскохозяйственная академия в Люблине, а среди научно-исследовательских институтов Институт сельского строительства, механизации и электрификации сельского хозяйства в Варшаве и Институт животноводства в Кракове. Ощущаются недостатки квалифицированных по фильму научных работников в научных и дидактических сельскохозяйственных учреждениях в масштабе всей страны и поэтому возникает необходимость подготовки и переподготовки научных и дидактических работников в области применения стандартного фильма и кинотехник специального характера в исследованиях и внедрениях. Оснащение киноаппаратурой и анализаторами для фильмовых исследований показывают в сравнении с последней экспертизой 1973 г. снижающуюся тенденцию. Это связано с декапитализацией вызванной физическим и техническим старением, а также отсутствием нового оборудования.
