The aim of an economy study carried out on an information system is the proportion of those costs that are essential to the continued operation of it, and at the same time the items purchased for these sums are not available from other sources or replacing them would result in the complete change of the whole system. Examining these elements during the procedure of choosing the appropriate system can provide useful information.
The aim of the work is to present relation between the structure of farm organization, determined according to the economic system and the system of integrated production in a large-scale farm 2004–2011. The material for investigation originated from farm accounting data and from the charts of fields history. It was worked out with the use of vertical and horizontal analysis, as well as synthetic analysis 1st degree by B. Kopeć. Many- -year-lasting analysis proved that the farm maintained animal breeding – plant production, namely rape – bee, highly intensive system, which is friendly to the environment. The rules of integrated production have been followed by that farm for more than 10 years and they involve: combination of pesticide treatments with mineral fertilization, appropriate crop rotation, which improves soil richness, application of liming and organic fertilization on the area of more than 25% of arable land. The economic system allows to apply integrated production.
The paper examined how the farm management support provided by public extension to mitigate the effects of climate variability influences farmers’ production, and whether this support considers farmers’ capital assets. Both probability and non-probability sampling procedures were used to select districts, municipalities and farmers from 20 villages of Limpopo province, South Africa in January, 2014. Semi-structured questionnaires were used to collect data from field-level extension agents and smallholder grain farmers. The most common climate variability coping strategy promoted by many agents was climate-smart agriculture practices. This strategy was applied by most users and non-users of extension support. The most popular channel used by agents to communicate information to farmers was farm visits. There were indications that agents did not consider producers’ capital assets in their choice of channels to communicate information to producers. Results further indicate that extension support, including climate variability information, contributed to increased crop yields, albeit small. It is recommended that field trials be done to ensure proper application of climate variability coping measures. More use of mass media and group methods to supplement farm visits is recommended.
In the present study, the detection of difficult conceptions in dairy cows using selected data mining methods – na ve Bayes classifier (NBC) and regression and classifications trees (CART) is presented. The set of 11 diagnostic variables was used, which included, among others, number of lactation, artificial insemination (AI) season, age of inseminated cow, proportion of HF-genes in cow genotype, sex of calf from preceding calving, length of pregnancy, milk, protein and fat yield. Two conception classes were distinguished: the GOOD class, if a cow conceived after one or two AIs and the “POOR” class, if more than two AIs per conception were required. The models were characterized by capability of predicting the membership of conceptions to either class. Correctness of predictions was 83%. CART proved to be more precise in detecting conceptions of the POOR class (sensitivity) compared with predictions by NBC (P≤0.01). Specificity was similar for both classifiers (90% and 93%). Among the variables determining conception class, calving-to-conception interval, calving interval and the difference between the mean body condition and condition at AI were the most significant variables for CART. Utilization of these classifiers, particularly of CART, may help a breeder to appropriately prepare cows for AI, thus contributing to the improved financial results of a herd.
The contribution deals with the preparation of the agrarian management for the entry into the European agrarian structures. On detail of the selected areas of managerial work it proves the expert's language and communicative preparation of the business management for the entry into the EU. In comparison with the managerial forms of the industrial EU countries it evaluates the level of managerial works and efficiency of the system of agrarian management. In the second part it explains the issues and arrangements how to improve the present state.
In the paper the sustainable development in historical view and theoretical aspects (conception, definition and aims of sustainable, dominant trends in UE agriculture) was presented. In the research on this problem, construction of the tools and models for the estimation of farms sustainable development level is necessary – the paper presents mythological trial of systematization of the principal indicators groups on this estimation.
The study presents how sustainable development (SD) should be defined in agriculture and it was attempted here to define sustainable farm development. Moreover, the paper discusses a systemic approach to the organization and management of a farm.
