Several NGOs have sent an appeal against „taking actions to cut down all the trees growing on the sides of public roads” to state authorities, e. g. provincial police headquarters, companies managing roads and local governments. They justify this by concern for the safety of motor transport. The author discusses the problem of roadside trees and tree avenues in historic, cultural, biological, environmental, technological, educational and landscape aspects and concludes: it should be clearly stated that road accidents are not caused by trees, but imprudent drivers. He also recalls what should be done to prevent the further devastation of roadside green belts.
Głównym celem badań prowadzonych w wybranych miejscowościach gminy Sławno było przedstawienie zróżnicowania składu gatunkowego porostów i grzybów naporostowych występujących na korze drzew owocowych (jabłonie, grusze, śliwy i wiśnie) rosnących w sadach oraz wzdłuż dróg wiejskich. Stwierdzono 47 gatunków porostów oraz 8 grzybów naporostowych. Są wśród nich gatunki nowe dla Polski Środkowej: kropnica sadzona Bacidia adastra, przyprószka ochrowa Piccola ochrophora oraz trzy grzyby naporostowe – Cornutispora lichenicola, Lichenochora obscuroides i Xanthoriicola physciae. Stwierdzono bogatszą biotę porostów i grzybów naprostowych na drzewach owocowych rosnących w sadach, a uboższą na drzewach owocowych rosnących wzdłuż dróg. Jabłonie i grusze wyróżniają się bogatszą biotą w stosunku do śliw i wiśn
