Until the mid 20th century architecture and building development in the Kraków—Częstochowa Jura constituted a unity. The houses were built in a particular architectural style well conformed with natural qualities of the area. In recent times this harmonious relation between nature and architecture got abruptly broken by dispersion of building development, urbanization of the area and application of alien architectural styles. The Administration of the Jura National Parks has undertaken a thorough analysis of historical and traditional architectural styles of this ares. This is supposed to constitute the basis for creative architectural continuation in the building development, because reconstruction or imitation of the original styles seem hardly possible. A set of architectural patterns, which are a continuation of building traditions of the region, has already been prepared.
In search of a wrongly understood modernity at all costs, anything resembling traditional forms has generally been abondoned in Poland, to the point that the forms of native architecture have been displaced by borrowings. Their excessive spread has become a kind o foreing “quotation”. This leads directly to the loss of out architectural identity. These quotations, totally maladapted to our conditions, such as the climate, clash with the surroundings, that is, the landscape. The author stresses that there are enough remnants of Polish native construction to inspire architectural creativity consistent with the surrounding landscape.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki rozpoznania stanu zachowania i specyfiki budownictwa regionalnego, występującego w obrębie międzyrzecza Warty i Neru.
