The presented film shows the course of strength testing of the framework of a 05 Standard cabin, manufactured by FUM "Spomasz", Sokółka, Poland. The objective of this testing was to establish whether the cabin framework can be considered safe for the MF-255 tractor. Strength testing of the framework of a 05 Standard cabin, was recorded using a Panasonic type NV-M5 camera. This camera is not only capable of recording, but also has the capacity for fast forwarding and rewinding the picture on screen, freeze frame function, and the so called fast shutter, permitting better viewing of fast changing images. The Panasonic VCR type NV-N70EG allows viewing of images recorded with fast shutters with maximum clarity and focus. The Department plans to purchase an IBM AT personal computer with peripherals designed to enter video images into the computer’s memory for further processing. This technique will not only allow more precise analysis of cabin elastic strain in strength testing, but will also facilitate studies of the functionality of agricultural tractors and machinery operation, assessment of the operator’s visibility, etc.

Determination of the mechanical properties of winter rape stalks

The present study is concerned with determining the cutting energy in dynamic tests, and the bending stress, shearing stress, and cutting energy in static tests for stalks of winter rape of the Jupiter, Jantar, and Jet Neuf varieties. A considerable variability was observed in the mechanical parameters of winter rape stalks, along the length of the stalks as well as in the course of the phenological stages of the plants. The studies also showed differentiation between the varieties. The character of changes in the values of the mechanical parameters along the length of the stalk is described by square polynominals. An evaluation is made of the effect of the stalk cross section surface area and of the stalk density on the variability of the mechanical properties of winter rape stalks in the course of the development of the plants. It was found that the stalks of the Jupiter variety were characterized by the lowest density as compared to those of the Jantar and Jet Neuf varieties. Also, the spacing of plant rows and the number of plants per m² were found to have a significant effect on the variability of the mechanical properties of the stalks of the Jupiter variety.

Uzyskane wyniki badań opisują zachowanie nasion poddanych symulacyjnym obciążeniom dynamicznym i pozwalają na ich charakterystykę w zależności od badanych czynników.

This part of the paper presents first, the dynamics of a wheat stem in geometrical approach, and then it is illustrated by appropriate examples. Movement of the bent stems, prior to the cutting, is a very complex translation accompanied by rotations. The above is caused mainly by the asymmetries in the stem structure. Then, the problem of a plane movement is analysed for stems (selected from a layer) since the moment when they have been bent until cutting and throwing them on an auger conveyor. The last part of the paper refers to the analysis of the stem movement in the slot of auger.
