The paulownia (Paulownia tomentosa), a Chinese tree from the Scrophulariaceae family, has been sown along the pavements in Polish cities. It is 3.5 to 4 metres high, with a dens semicircular/circular crown formed by trimming, it has very larg leaves and casts a thick shadow. In natural conditions, the paulownia’s height reaches up to 20 metres; it has a widespread crown and inflorescences with white-blue flowers. The paulownia’s leaves do not change their tint in autumn. The tree possesses a feature that is valuable in urban areas: it is highly resistant to airborne gaseous exhaust pollutants, and resilient to diseases and pests.
Glikozydy irydoidowe są grupą naturalnych związków posiadających bardzo wiele interesujących właściwości biologicznych i farmakologicznych. Cztery glikozydy irydoidowe (aukubina, katalpol, tomentozyd oraz 7-hydroksytomentozyd) otrzymywano metodą ekstrakcyjną i niskociśnieniowej chromatografii cieczowej z hodowanej metodą in vitro rośliny Paulownia tomentosa. Różne frakcje irydoidów glikozydowych były identyfikowane i oznaczone ilościowo metodą RP-HPLC.
