Cylindrinotus tchorokhicus sp. nov. and Probations (Pelorinus) banaszkiewiczae sp. nov. are described from northeastern Turkey (Artvin Province). The first species is similar to C. constrictus (Seidlitz, 1896), but differs from it by flattened lateral sides of pronotum, strongly thickened outer margins and base of pronotum, more shining body and structure of aedeagus. The new species of Probations Vauloger, 1900 is close to P. corrugatus (Seidlitz, 1896), but differs from it by the structure and punctation of pronotum and propleura, structure of elytra and genitalia of male, and pubescence on anal sternite.
A new species Nalassus bozdagus sp. nov. is described from the Aegean Region of Turkey (Bozdag ridge). The new species differs from all known Nalassus in the following characters: the hair spot on first and second abdominal sternites of male is absent, temple grooves are absent, exosceleton very strongly sclerotized. New records of Nalassus Mulsant, 1854 from Turkey are provided. Two species new for the fauna of Turkey: Nalassus (Helopondrus) gloriosus (Faldermann, 1837) and N. (Helopocerodes) faldermanni (Faldermann, 1837).
A new species of the genus Probaticus Seidlitz, 1896, P. (Pelorinus) peslieri sp. nov., is described from some localities of the island of Lesvos, Eastern Aegean Greece. It is compared to all its Greek relatives.
The nomenclatural status of three darkling beetle species previously described under the name Helops gracilis, by Fisher von Waldheim in 1823, Küster in 1850 and Bland in 1864, is clarified. The status of a fourth species, a misidentification of Helops gracilis Küster by Allard (1876,1877) and Seidlitz (1896), is also discussed. The following new nomenclatural acts are included: Helops gracilis Fisher von Waldheim, 1823 is recognized as Odocnemis (Heloponotus) gracilis (Fisher von Waldheim, 1823) comb. nov. (from Helops)', Catomus kuesteri (Weise, 1878) comb. nov. (from Helops) is the valid name for Helops gracilis Küster, 1850; Helops blandi Bousquet and Bouchard, nom. nov. is proposed for Helops gracilis Bland, 1864. Odocnemis perplexus (Ménétriés, 1848) is considered a new synonym of Odocnemis gracilis (Fisher de Waldheim, 1823) and Catomus dichrous Reitter, 1902 as a new synonym of Catomus kuesteri (Weise, 1878). Lectotypes are designated for Helops gracilis Fischer von Waldheim, 1823, H. gracilis Bland, 1864 and H. seidlitzi Gebien, 1911.
As a result of biodiversity research on Socotra Island, a new species of the genus Deretus Gahan, 1900 is described - D. hajeki sp. nov. The new species is figured, compared with its relatives and keyed.
Review of the O. korbi species-group is given. 5 species and 1 subspecies, including four new taxa are known from Southern Anatolia: O. korbi (Reitter, 1902), O. perarmatus Nabozhenko et Tichý, 2006, O. svetlanae sp. nov. svetlanae subsp. nov., O. svetlanae beydagensis subsp. nov., O. nasreddini sp. nov., O. nialgorzatae sp. nov. Morphological characters of species-group, bionomics and distribution are discussed.
A brief review of the genus Nalassus Mulsant, 1854 of Turkey is given. The new genus Turkonalassus gen. nov. (type species Helops adimonius Allard, 1876) is described. Species of the newly described genus are superficially similar to representatives of the subgenus Pelorinus of Probations (subtribe Helopina), but belong to the subtribe Cylindrinotina and are close to the genus Nalassus from which they differ by the absence of temple grooves ventrally (lower aspect of eye without ventral groove). The following species are included in Turkonalassus: Turkonalassus adimonius (Allard, 1876) (from Probaticus), Turkonalassus pentheri (Reitter, 1905), comb. nov. (from Probaticus), Turkonalassus bozdagus Keskin et Nabozhenko, 2010, comb. nov. (from Nalassus), Turkonalassus pineus sp. nov., Turkonalassus quercanus sp. nov., Turkonalassus petrophilus sp. nov., Turkonalassus macedonicus sp. nov. The last species is described from Greece and Bulgaria, the other species are known from Turkey. A new synonymy is established: Nalassus Mulsant, 1854 = Helopocerodes Reitter, 1922, syn. nov.; Turkonalassus pentheri = Cylindronotus hoberlandtii Kaszab, 1959, syn. nov. Lectotype of Helops pentheri Reitter, 1905 is designated. A key to the species of the genus Turkonalassus and genus Nalassus from Turkey is given.
