In Poland, the genus Lamprodila is currently represented by four species: L. decipiens (GEBL.), L. mirifica (MULS.) and L. rutilans (FABR.) (BYK and MOKRZYCKI 2009) and recently L. (Palmar) festiva (L.) (KRÓLIK et al. 2023). L. festiva (Fig. 1) develops on plants from the Cupressaceae family, in Poland it is observed on T. occidentalis, known from six locations in three regions: the Wielkopolsko-Kujawska Lowland, the Mazowiecka Lowland and Lower Silesia (Fig. 2). In the Masovian Lowlands, beetles, larvae and galleries (Fig. 3-5) were observed from June 11 to 16 in Konstancin-Jeziorna, Piaseczno and the southern part of Warsaw (Ursynów). Galleries were located between bark and wood. They had an irregular shape and were filled with brown and light sawdust. Pupal cradles placed in wood, with lenticular exit holes. The appearance of some of the exit holes of L. festiva on the observed standing and lying thujas (dark side walls) suggested that they could have been formed a year or even two years earlier. Climate change and the numerous occurrence of host plants may increase the area of occurrence of L. festiva in Poland in the future.
