The subgenera Eunihoides subgen. n. (type species O. echinopterus sp. n.), and Nubidanops subgen. n. (type species Otiorhynchus tumidicollis STIERLIN, 1861) in the genus Otiorhynchus GERMAR, 1822 are newly described. The following species of Otiorhynchus GERMAR, 1822 are described: echinopterus sp. n., rhizophilus sp. n. and agilis sp. n. from south-western Turkey (subgenus Eunihoides subgen. n.); brevipilosus sp. n. from Turkey (subgenus Pocodalemes); nigrosetosus sp. n., flavosetosus sp. n., lacunosus sp. n., adopertus sp. n., implicatus sp. n. and sculptipterus sp. n. from Turkey (subgenus Tecutinus REITTER, 1912); forficulatus sp. n. and amplicornis sp. n. from south-western Turkey; crocotillus sp. n. from Greece (subgenus Fondajenus REITTER, 1912); crassiphallicus sp. n. from northern Turkey (subgenus Otismotilus REITTER, 1912); agmentosus sp. n., armentalis sp. n., cappadocicus sp. n., crepuscularis sp. n., hebetes sp. n., malinkai sp. n., porculus sp. n., vavrai sp. n. and wanati sp. n. Otiorhynchus (Eunihus) pisidicus (MAGNANO, 2003) is hereby transferred to Otiorhynchus (Eunihoides subgen. n.), Otiorhynchus tumidicollis Stierlin, 1861 from Otiorhynchus incertae sedis and Otiorhynchus (Nubidanus) torosicus DAVIDIAN & GÜLTEKIN, 2016 to the subgenus O. (Nubidanops subgen. n.); all are new subgeneric placements.
The following species of the genus Otiorhynchus are described: O. podlussanyorum sp. n. from Bulgaria, O. brunneiformis sp. n. and O. mogulonoides sp. n. from Turkey (all from the subgenus Choilisanus).
A new subgenus Podorhynchus subgen. n. (type species Otiorhynchus cylindricus STIERLIN, 1877) of the genus Otiorhynchus, until now confused with Podonebistus REITTER, 1912, is described. Otiorhynchus (Podonebistus) trichopterus sp. n. from Crete, Otiorhynchus granicus sp. n. from Turkey and O. idhaeus sp. n. from Crete (both species in the subgenus Choilisanus REITTER, 1912) are described. Otiorhynchus cylindricus STIERLIN, 1877, O. fortiscapus ARNOLDI, 1972, O. glolae ARNOLDI, 1972, O. korotyaevi DAVIDIAN & GÜLTEKIN, 2006, and O. ritsae ARNOLDI, 1972, all currently placed in the subgenus Podonebistus are transferred to the newly erected subgenus Podorhynchus.
New species of the subgenus Otiorhynchus (Choilisanus) are described: pectorosus sp. n., octangularis sp. n., impetrativus sp. n., megapterygius sp. n., analemmus sp. n., thermophilus sp. n., robustisetis sp. n., umbraticus sp. n., sculptiventris sp. n., plagigerulus sp. n., and imperspicabilis sp. n., all from Asia Minor.
The new adventive weevil, Otiorhynchus ropotamus ANGELOV, was confirmed in 2024 to occur in Poland. It was described from south-eastern Bulgaria, where it is bisexual, but in the rest of Bulgaria, as well as in Greece and in Czechia, where it was recently discovered in Hradec Králové, the males are unknown. Two parthenogenetic populations were detected in Wrocław, in the localities distant by over 8 km. In both these sites the weevil has different feeding plant preferences, other than in Czechia. In the first (Sienkiewicza str., Ołbin district) it was found only on the Berberis cultivars (in the place where the single specimen was first incidentally caught in 2016), and in the second site (Kozanów estate) it was collected in dozens from Syringa vulgaris L. and Ligustrum vulgare L. bushes and hedgerows. It is distinct from other Otiorhynchus species living in urban green areas in Poland primarily in the shape of large acute triangular tooth on distinctly inflated fore femora, having straight inner margin with several minute spines or asperities, and in the obtusely expanded fore tibiae in middle of inner margin.
