The problem of town climate and bioclimate is an on going project realized by the Chair of Climatology of the University of Warsaw since 1952. Within the subject 160 elaborations have been prepared: 4 Ph.D. theses, 65 papers, 6 ordered studies and 85 master's theses. All studies were based on data from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management stations, as well as on special investigations carried out by the Chair of Climatology. The intensification of special meteorological surveying, to acknowledge the influence of the development system on the differentiation of microclimatic conditions in the Warsaw's housing estates came in the years 1979-1987. Such investigations are continued. Hitherto results have mainly contributed to the knowledge on characteristic features of the Warsaw's climate and on the differentiation of local climate wihin the city. Studies on the differentiations of meteorological elements within the city, depending on the season of the year, time of day and weather conditions enabled studies on such projects as: - deformation of meteorological field variables in the city, on the whole, with special regard to air temperature - heat island; - influence of urban type development and greens on the differentiation of climate in local scale; - determination of greens in forming thermal - humidity conditions.
