The studies were carried out on 174 healthy and diseased animals of different species under field conditions, and on 12 normal and 12 sick cows under laboratory conditions. The appearance of site reactions, general reactions, clearing signs of diseases and the level of basic macroelements in the serum were assessed, as were the liver and kidney function indices after the drug administration. Calcigluc was given once or several times intravenously and intramuscularly at rates of 0.5 and 1.0 ml per 1 kg of body weight. The findings indicate that Calcigluc is safe and does not give rise to any side-effects in normal animals and in those with a mild disfunction of the liver and kidney. After its administration at the above rates, it does not bring about too high initial concentration of Ca and Mg in the serum; however, an elevated level of Ca is observed within 24 hours of the drug administration. It is especially useful in the treatment of Ca-Mg disturbances if given intravenously and intramuscularly at the same time.
