The protection of Polish seaside landscape covers a narrow strip of land along the Baltic shoreline. This zone features a natural landscape, its inherent microclimate and vegetation. Due to its attractiveness it is visited by large numbers of summer visitors. Protection of the landscape in this area should include problems related to maintenance of the natural landscape which has been devastated and to recreation activity management. To-date concepts on relieving the pressure upon the seaside strip aimed at protecting the seaside by locating recreational centres at some distance from the shoreline have not proved correct. The author discusses the concept of land development in the Jamno Lake area, the central section of the Baltic shoreline.
