The aim of the study was to evaluate the possibility to culture of Isaria fumosorosea on grain media such as wheat, maize, pea or barley. The results showed the possibility of mass production of I. fumosorosea conidia on the grain media. Additionally the crumbling of seeds contributes to more intensive development of mycelium and production of spores per 1 g of medium.

The field experiment was carried out in 2009–2011 year, in Niziny village, near the city of Przemysl. The aim of the studies was to evaluate the effectiveness of Isaria fumosorosea for the control of Ostrinia nubilalis. Two protection treatments were used: seed dressing with spores of the entomopathogenic fungus and spraying plants during vegetation with spore suspension. The results showed, that the application of I. fumosorosea may reduce the damage caused by larvae of European corn borer (O. nubilalis) in stem and cob in comparison to unprotected plants.

Occurrence of entomopathogenic fungi in the soils from mid-field afforestation and adjacent fields

The entomopathogenic fungi are micoroorganisms naturally occurring in the soil of agrocenosis and forest or mid-field afforestation. The aim of the work was the evaluate the influence of mid-field afforestation on the occurrence of entomopathogenic fungi in the soil environment. The studies were condcucted in 2010 and 2011 in an ecological agricultural organic farm in Zreczyce. Mid-field shelterbelts had a beneficial effect on the occurrence of entomopathogenic fungi in the soil. Entomopathogenic fungi were most often isolated from the soil of ecotones.
