The authors compared two methods of determining odour concentration under field conditions. Twelve series of odour measurements were carried out at a mink farm. Odour concentration was determined using a portable dynamic olfactometer (Nasal Ranger, St. Croix Sensory, Inc.) and by approximation using the psychophysical Weber-Fechner equation of S-logZ on odour intensity results. Odour concentrations were about 60 ou/m3 for both methods. Values of the ratio cod,WF/codNR were in the range of (0.2-5), which satisfies the requirements of EN 13725.
The aim of presented experiments was to select solutions of chemical compounds mentioned in publications, to be used to form artificial patina and determination of its adequate coloration on the surfaces silvered and covered with bronze. The application of elaborated recipes of solutions to form patina on completed parts of gilded and silvered parts imitates an accelerated process of natural corrosion. In natural conditions process of forming patina takes long years. One has to be very careful, while because of applying corrosive agents to the very thin foils, like 0,2 ц of silver foil, or 0,5 ц of bronze, controlling of such a process can be very difficult.
A number of studies have shown that acute physical exercise is associated with the induction of apoptosis not only in skeletal muscle but also in many distant organs. One of the pathogenic agents responsible for exercise-induced damage in many tissues is the generation of oxygen free radicals. The aim of the present study was to examine the influence of exercise-induced oxidative stress on the rat kidney. The analysis was performed on the kidneys of rats subjected to treadmill running until exhaustion. Our results demonstrated that acute exercise led to apoptotic damage of the renal distal tubular cells, although this was not a result of oxidative stress.
