The Alaskan national parks and nature reserves cover a vast area. This is because of the size of the state and its small population and the abundance of fauna and flora. The Denali park covers some 24 thousand square kilometres and boasts Mount McKinley, the tallest peak in North America. The park has three areas, each with a different degree of nature protection: the nature reserve (ca. 20 percent), the national park (ca. 40 per cent) and strict reserve (ca. 40 percent) where even the Atabascs, the indigenous people, are not allowed to hunt. The article deals with the climate, fauna and flora of the park and Alaska generally.

It is multifarious and comprises national parks, national forests, nature reserves, national recreation areas and many other. In Alaska, national parks cover vast areas. This is primarily due to sparse population and the abundance and variety of the wildlife. The author writes about the history of the park, its geological makeup, rivers and animal and plant life. The gold rush of the 19th century also gets a mention.

The majority of surface waters in Poland defy any cleanliness standards and the underground reservoirs of potable water are contaminated by organic substances. Owing to the construction of the south section of Krakow bypass, there is now an increased risk of contamination of the underground water system at the southern outskirts of the city. The author lists the health benefits and uses of the spa waters and looks into the nature and degree of possible contamination.

The spa of Swoszowice is located in the southern part of Kraków, some 9 kilometres from the city centre. It has been renowned for sulphur deposits and mineral health giving water. Sulphur baths have been applied here for 120 years. Rheumatism, limb traumas, skin diseases, and metabolic and nervous disorders have been treated here. Due to its localization at the limits of the Kraków conurbation it is threatened by air pollutants from exhaust gases and by noise.
