One out groups of bulls, amounting 20 animals each, was slaughtered and dissected at 100 kg live weight. Remaining animals were fattened with different intensity, using a balanced concentrate according to NRBC (1970). The animals were divided into three groups differing with regard to planned daily gains - 750 (I), 950 (II) or 1150 g (III). The animals were slaughtered and dissected after having consumed 2000 kg of concentrate. The bulls fed less intensively gained daily 312 (I) and 124 g (II) more then expected. The third group fulfilled the expectations. The 54 days prolongation of fattening (I) payed back with better food conversion which amounted to 1 kg concentrate/kg gain or 2.1 kg concentrate/kg lean gain.
Relationship beetween performance test of sires and fattening results their sons was investigated (23 sires and 72 sons). There were taken account: body weight at 4, 12 and 15 months, daily gains from birth until 4, 12 and 15 months as well daily gain between 4-12, 4-15 and 12-15 months. Only rank correlation between daily gains of sires at 4-12 months and body weight of sons at 4 months were statistically significant (rs =0,43).
The study aimed at evaluating the growth and development of heifers (68 animals) and beef performance of bulls (41 animals) representing 4 genetic groups: I cb, II - cb x hf, III - hf, IV - (cb x hf/ x czb) cb = Black-and-White; hf = Holstein-Friesian; czb = Red- and-White. All heifers were maintained on a moderate level of feeding. The semi-intensive fattening of bulls was conducted up to 15 months of age. The highest dailly gain and thus the highest body weight at the age of 15 months was observed in the heifers sired by czb bulls (group IV). Among the bulls the highest daily gain and the largest body weight were achived by the pure cb animals (group I). Animals with a large share of hf blood (group III) were highest at withers. However, thier body width measurements were considerably lower. Beef performace of the progeny of the czb sires was a good one.
