Świętokrzyski National Park stretches over Łysogóry, the highest range of Świętokrzyskie Mountains. Forests account for 90% of the National Park well known for having stands of the oldest Polish larch, beech and fir groves which often feature as a backdrop in Stefan Żeromski’s novels. The National Park also protects rugged quartizite fields known as gołoborza. The Park’s flora retains much of its primeval beauty and the half a century of restoration work is bringing good results.
