The purpose of the study reported was to determine the dependence of the occurrence of high daily precipitation sums (≥10 mm) upon the atmospheric circulation types (as classified according to Osuchowska-Klein) within the area of the north-western Poland. The source data are constituted by the daily precipitation sums for the period 1961-1980, measured at 185 precipitation gauges. The shares of the high daily precipitation sums are more pronounced in the cyclonal, Ck, and the western, W, macro-types than in the anticyclonal, Ack, and the eastern, E, ones. The daily precipitation sums exceeding 30 mm occur for the advection of the air masses from the southern sector, both in the anticyclonal (E₁ and D₂C) and the cyclonal (B, F, D) types, as well as for the cyclonal north-western circulation CB. Then, the shares of daily precipitation sums exceeding 50 mm are most pronounced for the cyclonal macrotype, Ck (except for April and July), and for the eastern macrotype, E (except for November and December). The shares of such high daily precipitation sums are the biggest for the advection of the air masses with the northern component, E₀, E, CB.
The article analyses the air temperature characteristics of the winter season in Koszalin from 1850 to 2010. The trends of changes have been determined. In addition, the frequency of thermal anomalies has been shown. The thermal classification of Lorenc has been adopted for this study. The relationship between the North Atlantic Oscillation and the air temperature in winter seasons has been estimated.
The present paper concentrates on the basic features of an annual precipitation course (monthly, seasonal and annual sums) registered between 1861-2000. The paper also defines an amount of precipitation sums’ deviations from the many years’ average, factor of monthly precipitation sums’ changeability and trends of their changes. The characteristics of the annual precipitation sums in an annual course allow to define which months, seasons and half-years were characterized by more intensive changeability and discover if there was recorded a considerable asymmetry between the particular months, seasons and half-years and what were the reasons of the asymmetry.
The paper presents an analysis of the extreme precipitation recorded in north-western Poland between 1951 and 1995. The author of the present paper selected a day with a maximal twenty-fourhour precipitation sum out of each month. The author also selected intervals characterized by specific twenty-four-hour values: 0.1-9.9 mm, 10.0-19.9 mm, 20.0-29.9 mm, 30.0-49.9 mm, 50.0-99.9 mm and ≥100 mm. The author selected frequencies of their occurrence and a monthly average and annual maximums’ sum of precipitation. A concept of an extreme precipitation relates to twentyfour- hour sums 50.0-99.9 mm and ≥100 mm. Moreover the author selected the days with extreme twenty-four-hour sums ≥100 mm and specified the atmospheric circulation types, distinguished by B. Osuchowska-Klein (1975).
The basic features of annual course of air temperature (differentiated between the particular months and seasons) along with air temperature variations during the period between 1950 and 2009 together with the trends of changes are presented. In addition the dependence of air temperature on North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) is exhibited.
This paper presents the basic features of annual course of air temperatures and the sum of precipitation (diversification of temperatures and precipitation in separate months and seasons). The paper also determines air temperature and precipitation fluctuations in 1861-2007 and the trends of changes. Finally, the relations between the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and the air temperatures and precipitation sums are established.
The authors of the present paper made an attempt to determine frequency of average, dry and wet periods for months, seasons, half-years and years. Additionally a comparison of data recorded dur-ing 140 years allows to check the structure of excessively wet and excessively dry years’ patterns. The present paper is based on the Z. Kaczorowska’s classification (1962).

The climate of Slupsk

63%
This study is an attempt to provide a comprehensive and synthetic characterisation of Słupsk climate based on a homogeneous series of daily measurements covering the longest possible period. Apart from the temperature and precipitation profiles derived from a 58-year examination record (1950-2007), the climate analysis also presents the distribution of other key weather components (atmospheric pressure, wind, relative humidity and cloud cover) in a shorter (1991-2007) time-span. The paper, which is a summary of the existing research into Słupsk climate, is directed not only at geographers (for whom it may be a significant reference in research concerning weather conditions in other Polish towns), but also at local residents and tourists, who choose Słupsk as their holiday destination.
