The examinations were concerned with effect of low temperatures, in winter time, desiccation, water level, various concentrations of aqueous solutions of copper phosphate, bovine urine and the influence of factors, on the ovular development of the parasite.
"Zanil" (3,3', 5,5', 6-pentachloro-2,2'-dihydroxy benzanilide) of I.C.I. production is known to be one of the most safe and effective drugs in the treatment of fascioliasis (2, 3, 1, 4). The aim of the studies undertaken was to examine the usefulness of ’’Zanil” in the control of fluke infection in Poland.
In view of the negligible efficacy, produced side effects and the necessity to keep a special diet during the administration, the above given drugs can not be regarded as those of choice.
The experimental treatment of cows, suffering from fasciolosis, with intramuscular injections of CCl₄ in the mixture with paraffin or rape-seed oil (1 : 1) proved to be ineffective for the therapy of the disease in the province veterinary practice (painfulness, occurrence of pathologic changes in the muscles, etc.).
