The traditional utilisation of the natural space has led to the specific arrangement of the spatial components, highly diversified in terms of flora and fauna composition due to many centuries of agricultural activity. The economic changes will make small non-specialised farms decline or disappear or they will be transformed into intensively cultivated areas. Maintenance of mosaic agricultural production favours protection of biological and landscape diversity. In Małopolska, the current forms of farming may be protected only by the subsidy system.
