In 2010–2011 health state of plants in the urban garden „Różanka” in Szczecin was examined. The material used for the studies were leaves, stems and roots of plants of the genus Acer, Malus and Rosa. Fourteen species of fungi and fungus like organisms were identified. More important species were: Botrytis cinerea, Marssonina rosae, Peronospora sparsa, Phragmidium mucronatum and Podosphaera pannosa (colonizing roses), Sawadaea bicornis, S. tulasnei and Melasmia acerina (on clones), and Spilocea pomi and Asteromella mali (on apples). The occurrence of fungi was highly associated with the weather conditions: in 2011 with more rainfall than in 2010, the severity of most diseases was significantly higher than in the previous year.
In order to exert their activity, transcription factors must be transported to the nucleus. Certain transcription factors have also been found on mitochondria. Here, the localization of RelB and NFATx in the mitochondrial fractions of normal thymocytes and thymic lymphoma cells is shown for the first time. CREB was only found in the nucleus, while p50 (NFκB) was found in both the nucleus and the cytoplasm, but outside the mitochondria. The translocation of transcription factors to the mitochondria is differentially regulated. Unlike RelB, which is always present in the mitochondrial fraction, NFATx appeared on the mitochondria in cells treated with ionomycin together with an immunosuppressant and inhibitor of calcineurin (FK506). This data reveals that the mitochondrial localization of some transcription factors is precisely controlled by a calcium signal sensitive to FK506 in T cells.
The occurrence of micromycetes fungi on plant species of genus Juniperus, Taxus and Thuja growing in west Pomerania was investigated in 2008–2010. Of the identified fungal species one was classified as fungus rarely occurring in Poland (1–2 sites). It was Guignardia philoprina. Fungi of the genus Alternaria, Cladosporium, Pythium, Fusarium and Rhizoctonia were often observed on yew, and fungi of the genus Gymnosporangium were identified on juniper.
